New to the hobby

Hi I'm new to the hobby about 4 months in to it but have had intrest in it for years and bit the bullet this year. This has been a new experience and I have been learning a lot. I am looking forward to learning and growing into a larger tank with time but for now I'm running a 40b. Here are a few pictures of my current tank and live stock.

Thanks! If I had know what I know now I would have done it differently. The next tank will have a lot more planning and preparation. The next one wont see water until I have all the details figured out and buying multiple pieces of the same equipment wont happen . Definitely gonna do a sump and refugium on the next tank. I would like to have it now but dont really want to invest anymore in this setup than I have. It seems to run well the way it is. I have a huge learning curve on livestock needs and requirements but im sure with time will become easier.

Im not really sure. It has shown a lot more color since I put the EG leds on the tank and seems to be growing like a weed lol....... I bought it as a tiny frag and didnt catch/ dont remember the name. Also have learned that the store I bought it from is full of ****. So whatever they called it was probably wrong.

I'm pretty new myself. Seems your tank is a bit more evolved than mine. I only have one yellowtail, some crabs and snails lol. Welcome to the forums.

welcome to the forum and the hobby! tank is looking good and you have picked some beautiful pieces! do you know what that last picture is? it's unusual looking. I think you picked a great size tank to start. I have a 65 gallon wide which I was told is a larger version of a 40breeder.

What lighting are you using to give your tank that blue/purple tinge? That's nifty looking.

I am running the evergrow leds I believe they are it2040's. 22% blue 10% whites. Going to rent the par meter from the lfs and take some par readings to fine tune things and get an idea of what my goal setting will be on the lights.

The bottom picture is of 2 maxi mini anemones and a hammer coral in the back ground. The maxi mini's are super cool maybe one of my favorite things in my tank.....I have three lol. They dont move....much and look really nice under the blues.

I have a 65 like the one you have set up and have been tossing around the idea of throwing it together but want to wait and do it right the next time. I was thinking of using the 65 as a sump for a bigger tank.
