Hey guys,

Somewhat new to the hobby - I attempted a 75 gallon setup a few years back but then got busy moving across the country and lost time/money for it, but now I have the time and money :-)

I currently have a 20 gallon long aquarium (below). Since this photo I have added another powerhead in the upper back left corner and I am buying a light in the coming week. (Any recommendations?). I'm almost finished cycling - Nitrite is starting to go down and nitrate is already high. I'm seeing the algae as well as the air bubbles so that's a good sign.

Show me your setups!

Welcome. :)

Great beginnings.

Do you know what you're going to want T5, MH or LED? Is there a price range you're looking at?

Welcome Austin!

Tank looks good.....I like the arched like rock structures....and the fish will like that as well.....places to swim and hide.

Thank you! Leaning toward an LED. My LFS recommended the Current Orbit USA Marine LED Lights. They're not too pricey (about $130 for a 20 gallon light), and they have a ton of great features (timer, remote control, dimming settings). I reall like what I have seen thus far, but do you know if they are safe for corals? From what my LFS says they are.

This is a better fixture for not that much more.

The Current will work fine, but most reviews have been so so. If you're anything like the average hobbyist there will come a time when you want more from your fixture, the Reefbreeder is affordable, anyone I know that has the fixture likes it.

Remember the guy or gal at the fish store naturally wants to sell you their products. Take your time and keep researching.

Yeah, for sure. The Current may work for me for now though I am thinking because I plan on upgrading to a 75+ gallon tank in the spring.

Welcome to the forum! Your tank is off to a great start, when that rock get's overgrown by corals it'll be gorgeous :D

Good morning I am new to the saltwater hobby, but not new to fish. I currently have a 55gallon fresh water tank and it's been running for about three years now. I am working on setting up a 40 gallon breeder to start with but I also have a couple of 75 gallon tanks sitting around the house

Thank you. Not 100% sure yet. I thinking a yellow tang 2 black and white clown fish and a sand sifting goby for now

Welcome to R2R;)

Welcome to R2R great place to get knowledge and hangout. Tanks started off nicely. Ocean revive is another great economy led we have the t247 and love it. Also reef breeders and ocean revive are sponsors here.

Welcome! Your tank is looking good! What kind of livestock you thinking about?

Thank you! I'm actually going to the LFS tonight (as long as my nitrite/nitrate levels are cooperating) and picking up a cleaner crew. Looking at some blue crab possibly as well as some shrimps and snails.

As far as fish...definitely some clowns, looking at some eels, not sure which kinds yet though and maybe a tang or two.

Any suggestions on good beginner fish?
