Thanks. I'm wondering as 2 things happened about 2 months ago when I switched from t5 lights to led. I started getting a lot of algae growth and my anemone closed up. Just coincidence? Any suggestions for getting rid of the algae especially the cyano bacteria which seems to grow mostly in my sand bed? I think I read that algae growth at this stage of my tank is normal and will subside in time.

I am new to this as well , but yes it is normal and I have gone through it, ugh!! But it will go away. Do you have a cuc, and an algae magnet? My snails are what really took care of my glass and my hermit crabs and gobies took care of the sand bed and weekly water changes. I never used chemicals in my tank for that. I hope this helps.

Don't have a cuc but am considering getting one. I havent used any chemicals and don't plan on it. I usually everyday try to remove the cyano stuff that seems to help keep the growth down and it seems like its growing less. Didn't get a goby, but wishing i had. Thanks.

Cuc's are great for clean up and are fun to watch as well. I also have an emerald crab who can be a pain in the ...... But he does a great job with the algae as well.
