Why are some of my Zoa polyps releasing and floating around? Their are noticeably fewer polyps on the rock they came on. Tank parameters are good. Zoa is close to light and with good flow. The Zoa opens up, has good color and seems to be doing well.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Well, this is an extremely fun hobby. As a beginner you should watch Mr. Saltwater Tank’s budget reef builds. He teaches you a lot. Also, as I watched this a year ago I learned a lot when I also got into the hobby. Good luck!

Hello! Welcome! Im new as well, but I might be able help. How old it the tank? How long do you have your peek time set for? how long is your lighting on? Is it a colony you grew yourself? or bought from another? are there any spikes in water conditions in the past few days? or while you've been noticing the floating polyps?

Hello back at ya and thank you for the response. Started the tank late Oct. so 5 months. The light is an Edge Reef fixture LED, Channel one color leds 14hrs 6am-8pm, channel 2 white leds 7hrs 10am-5pm, purchased colony from a store that only deal in fish, conditions are stable and have been for the last couple months since I had an incident. Just noticed the polyps in the last week or so. I have moved them down in the tank for a little less flow and light. They were up top and under a power head also.

First of all, I think one thing you should do is let those lights go for a little shorter time. I had mine run for 12:00-9:00. You wanna run them for about 8-10 hours.
