New to this forum and hobby

Hi guys,

I am in Ontario, Canada and just started up my saltwater tank six months ago. I have a 55 gallon and only have rock, sand and fish at this point.

I would like to get into corals slowly but I need to acquire the proper lights. I would like to get led at an affordable price. Tank is 2 x 24".

Any recommendations of corals and lights would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to R2R!!! I would suggest looking around the member tank forum and finding some tanks you really like and see what lighting they run. A lot is personal preference, but each has their own pros and cons.

Visit Reefbuilders and our vendors for affordable LEDS. Another option is your local craigslist, and local reef clubs. A note of caution research the fixture to make sure it can support corals and any addition you want to make in the future. Skimmers and lighting is where you want to make sure you make the right investment, spend the money now.

Welcome to R2R! I absolutely agree with Tahoe. Invest in a great product first instead of buying cheap now then expensive later. It'll save you money and headaches. There are a lot of LED options available now, but T5 is also a great route to go as well. Do as much research as possible and if you have a local fish store that has displays with both types of lighting take a look at what you prefer. What do you have for a sump setup?
