Love the go big or go home mentality! Definitely exciting to go as big as you can! The largest I've kept in freshwater was a 29g so a 95g upgrade into saltwater was great!

Thanks for all the input everyone! Sounds like most people think the bigger the better, so I guess I'll be going for the larger 96x30x30... Little nervous, but already shopping and will probably start ordering stuff very soon!

Hi welcome, I'm pretty new as well, started with a 1000ltr (220 gal) just finished cycle and added cuc, ( fishless cycle ). Going to introduce some hardy coral and fish soon, patience is the key.

Welcome! I also got started because of snorkeling in the Florida Keys!
one thing that is a deciding factor for me is that I’m a small woman and I have short arms, so the tank can’t be too deep or I’ll have to go swimming to do basic tank maintenance lol

What ever you choose you have tons of support. Just don’t get in over your head so it’s not fun and don’t make it so simple it is boring. So skip a goldfish bowl and don’t try and build a sea world orca tank and the rest in between should be ok. ;Woot

Welcome to R2R and the wonderful folks, information and help.
I would definitely go with the "go big or go home", the larger the body of water, the more stable it stays and since you are planning on automating and potentially not around all the time, big makes sense. My tank is not automated but its only 56 gal with softie corals so I am not dosing dHk or anything but I spend probably about an hour a week with water testing, cleaning the glass and a 5 gal water change once a week. add about another 30 min if I am doing a deep clean of soaking power heads and changing filter media.
Patience, it is the big word around here, Reefing is patience to cycle, to watch things grow, to keep your tank balanced.
I recommend to everyone joining to create a tank build thread.
1. You get to see where you have started and how much you have grown in this hobby.
2. We love pictures and to see what your doing with your tank.
3. It’s a great learning tool for all of us to see what works and doesn’t . We learn great stuff from each other.
Lastly the only bad question here is the one not asked...
