Traps, possibly. Some are easy DIY from things like plastic water bottles, and there are some you can buy, possibly with mixed reviews. The idea would be to have a contraption that contains bait, the fish could go in, but then not (easily) get out. Some work better than others. Most will trap your crabs first. Some fish are just better than others at avoiding capture.
