So I have had an outbreak of red bugs in my reef tanks and have red that interceptor is the way to go. Checked with the vet and tey said I need a perscription but the doctor was in surgery so I could not ask but they say 1800pet meds have it.

Checked ther eand they have interceptor for 51-100pound dog wich has 23mg of Milbemycin Oxime

Is this the right one?

I think @saltyfilmfolks mentioned using interceptor to cure used live rock. He might know.

sounds good. Should I do waterchanges and run carbon 6 hours after?

I waited until I saw all the bugs stopped moving or fell off the corals then did my water change and fresh carbon. I've waited as long as 12 hours after with no ill effects

So just got the medicine in today. I am kind of confused on the skimmer part. Can I just close off the air valve or do I have to remove the actual tube from the pump?

Just close the air valve if you can, just make sure it isn't making any bubbles

I can shut the air valve as low as possible but without shutting the pump off entirely the pump will continue to make bubbles.

Stick the airline into water so it sucks water Instead of air. You don't want it making bubbles

This is an external Skimmer so could I just shut the pump off and let the feed hose(comes from overflow) feed it and let the water come out the output. So that would eliminate the bubbles from the pump because it would be off. The airline hosing is not long enough to go into the tank.

Well just finished first dose of interceptor Now I just put in carbon. Do i need to do a water change? I also turned on the skimmer.

once you treat they should die. If it's been 6+ hours you're good to add some carbon to remove drug/toxins potentially released (no strong evidence this is needed) and resume skimmer activity. Water change is not necessary. Relative to volume it won't make a difference for anything.
