New to Wrasse

I'd like to add more wrasse to my tank. But I'm not so familiar with them. I currently have an yellow coris wrasse and a cleaner wrasse. I'm concerned adding more wrasse to the tank would cause community issues among the other wrasse. Could I add more or just leave well enough alone?

How big is your tank?

If you have enough space, you can probably try to add other less aggressive wrasse in there. Usually a yellow coris is pretty mellow, but with wrasses each individual fish is different.

Possum wrasses should be fine, maybe another halichoeres, small flasher or fairy wrasse, when your tank matures, you can try a leopard wrasse.

Stay away from 6 lines or 8 lines. Flasher and fairy wrasses are a little more aggressive, so maybe add those last.

I have lots of different kinds of wrasses, added at different times, and the key is to use an acclimation box if you think there might be an aggressor.

The exception I have is my male melanurus. He is a sneaky little devil. Leaves new additions alone in the acclimation box, never even gives them a look. As soon as they are let out, he goes after them relentlessly.

Those 2 should be pretty accepting of other wrasses, although to play it safe I would branch out into Fairy wrasses, leopard wrasses, Flasher Wrasses, etc. That way you aren't mixing more than one of a similar type.

I have a Red Sea Reefer 525 which is about the same size as your tank. I had a Rhomboid and Katherines and recently added a Lineatus and Scotts with no major issues. The Scotts hid almost all day for the first couple days but within 4 or 5 days was out quite often. The Lineatus was out all the time and he and the Rhomboid went rounds the first couple days but everybody seems to be getting along really well. There will always be some aggression as they find a new pecking order but I think the reason I had limited issues was adding more then 1 at a time. If you just added 1 I think you would be setting yourself up for more difficulties.

Ended up getting two flasher wrasses. Both hid for a day then came out. My coris wrasse was the only one that showed some aggression, but now everybody gets along great.
