Hi! I just put my tomini Tang in a few hours ago. The Talbot damsel and flame angel chased him for a few minutes and then left him alone. His fins didn't look this bad earlier although there was a visible knick in the top back which can still be seen. I don't think his tail looked like that although I can be sure. Should I be worried? It didn't look like they were nipping him. Would this be rapid infection or must it be bites from other fish or could he have been hiding it during acclimation?

I don't have QT but theoretically could set one up in a 10 gal and go buy a larger one tomorrow. Advice? Be worried? Thanks!
Tank is 75 gallons, all params good and 1 hr acclimation. Can provide further details.

Lower lights to blue only to reduce stress and keep other fish at bay
One great thing about saltwater fish is their ability to heal quickly on their own. Fish will be fine as long as no aggression persists.

Yeah, the lights were off from when I brought him home til an hour ago.
I just noticed his tail looks worse than last night (top third gone!). I haven't really seen much aggression though, after like the first 30 minutes of dropping him in. He's eating and he's swimming in place, but he's leaning sideways much of the time. Sure it couldn't be disease?

That doesn't look good. That tail is really beat up. My tomini and yellow occasionally get after each other and the tomini usually loses. He has had his fins messed up a couple times. I have been surprised how fast they heal. If the fighting stops it should heal up. Hopefully they chill soon.

Unfortunately he died a couple days ago. Condition didn't look worse and he had been active, but I guess it wasn't enough..... poor guy!
