I recently (2 months ago) purchased my first piece of LPS coral for my newish 90g tank which was a torch coral. It was quite a large piece so I decided to break it into two pieces which was quite easy due to the way it was growing. On the smaller piece I have noticed that there is some white stuff growing on one part of the skeleton. Not sure if this is the start of a new head, something else entirely normal or the start of a problem for the coral? Fairly new to the SW hobby and very new to LPS coral so sorry if this is a very basic question, just want to rule out any potential issues as both torches have been doing well so far. Cheers, PS

That looks to be sponge growing next to it. Harmless.
Thanks for the reply. There is just so much to this hobby, once you figure something out, something else comes up to get you scratching your head. Will keep an eye to make sure it doesn’t bother coral but if not will just leave it if it’s harmless.
