Hi

I've just got two Tunze 6095 pumps.
I put them in my tank - on a DIY tree stand - and they were SO loud and noisy.
I thought it was the tree inter stand, that made some kind of vibration, so I changed over to my old stand, made out of metal and no sides on or anything.
The noise is still there!

If I take the pumps out of the clam, and hold them in my hand, almost all the noise disappear. But as soon they're in the clamps, they're loud as...
It's like the noise is coming from the glass itself - and if I put my ear to the glass, I can hear the noise and humming in the glass.

What to do?! I can't have aquarium in the living room like this.

My wavebox pump did the same. After a week its gets quiet for bacteria coating

Some things will even out as the pumps age, but if it's too loud consider giving Tunze a call or email (Roger's number and address on on tunze.com) or at least dropping a thread into their Sponsor Forum here on Reef2Reef to get their feedback.

It might not be an indication of a problem in some cases, but it's not really "normal" for a pump to make loud vibrations when well-installed.

Hi again

I've only had the pump running in tap water so far. I have now put some salt in the water, to see if that helps.

I can't see I have done anything wrong.
It's just frustrating to have a problem like this.
The wife will not approve the aquarium, when it's loud like this.

I have tried to put my canopy on top. It stand on the aquarium. I can hear and feel the vibrations from the pump in that too - it can't be good sign?!

I bought two pumps, what are the chances, that both of them making noise like this?

And by the way... HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi I know this is an old thread but if you’re still on here- curious on what your solution was ? Did you in fact receive two defective 6095’s?

im wondering because Im quite sure I recently bought a defective one...new one is crazy loud compared to my older model 6095 which has been silent since day one...(it’s 8yrs old now)
