New Waterbox Peninsula 4820 - Reef Matt Compatibility?

Looking to see if the ReefMatt 500 or 1200 is compatible with the 4820 without any glass cutting. The Sock area is removeable but I'd be unsure on how far down the Reef Matt would fit. At face value it doesn't look like it will fit, but I'm wondering where on the ReefMatt the dimensions are taking from. I'd presume the widest/tallest points, but the ReefMatt itself is like a cone shape, so I'd expect that it would fit into the chamber but Its obviously a very expensive mistake to make.

I have a Waterbox Peninsula 5526 and I was able to remove the filter socks to install a clarisea sk-3000. I used the red sea sump modification kit and it was super easy took me about half hour to do. There’s videos on YouTube to show you best way to do it with that kit.

I got the peninsula 6025. BRS said the Red Sea 500 would fit, but would burn too fast fleece that they wouldn’t recommend it. Mine has a bigger dump than you though

Using the sump challenge and opie's post, without modification I don't see it being possible to hook up a sufficient fleece roller.

You would have to modify the plumbing bare minimum to connect to the fleece roller and if you remove the filter sock and it's holder then you likely have the option of plumbing a clarisea SK 5000, reef factory s or m, and maybe potentially one of the reef mat models. Your biggest restriction is the width of the sump. If you have a dual 7-in filter sock model then it's much easier to put a fleece roller in terms of plumbing, but the Red Sea reef Matt is simply designed to be a bit too boxy. That's why they actually show a visual of the reef mat being placed in a dual filter sock chamber on their site. The L model could fit in one of those

If you're willing to do more serious modification you could reduce the size of the return chamber and increase the size of the sock chamber and likely fit a reef mat but as I see it you'd be hard-pressed to get a reef mat 500 to fit in a section that size. According to reef factories flow ratings, they have the best footprint to flow ratio out of any filter roller by huge margin.

I've never seen this something person but I just removed the filter sock holder I would guess your best options would be a clarisea sk-3000, potentially a 5000 if you plumb it differently, or a reef factory smart roller s. There always is the drop-in kit for 7-in filter socks though. You have enough space in the sump to make up for any lost overall filtration with other equipment.

While not the same sump exactly, I managed to fit a 1200 in my 4825. I had to remove the filter sock compartment entirely and use a 90 degree slip rather than the fitting the reefmat provides. It barely fits.

That is a tight fit. Were you able to plumb The reef mat directly to one of the drains? What size PVC did you end up using. It does look like you barely managed to squeeze it in there. The higher you have it mounted obviously the smaller the footprint but with the OEM plumbing sticking out the side things become infinitely harder

Very tight indeed! I have zero play, frankly I'm amazed it worked. It is plumbed directly to my drain. I had to reduce it from 1 1/4 in to 1in. I did not glue it so that I can remove the reefmat for maintenance, but it fits quite snugly.

Also I had to swap my drain and emergency so that it would line up correctly.

I've had it running over a year now, no problem. Shockingly.
