My Jebao RW4 came in today, and when I placed it into my 20 gallon tank (36x10x12), even on the lowest setting, it seemed to be a bit too powerful for my anemone. He was attached to the side of the tank, but within about 30 minutes of having the wave maker on, he had detached himself and blew across the bottom of the tank. I helped him get to a rock where he could attach himself on the opposite side of the tank, and then turned it back on, still on the lowest setting. Now, however, any time I turn it on, the flow seems to be a bit too much for him.

I was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with this, and therefor have a recommendation. Is there a certain angle I should have it pointed to help reduce the flow to where he is comfortable? Right now it is on the left side of my tank, blowing longways toward the other side. I have tried pointing it up, pointing it down, angling it a bit towards the back of the tank, but no matter what I do, it still always seems to be a bit too strong for him. He is on the opposite side of the tank, and the water is pushing him towards the wave maker. I appreciate any advice you guys might have. Thank you.

I have a rw-4 for my 90 gallon tank. If I were you a rw-4 is way too strong for a 20 gallon and I would reccomend a koralia with maybe 200-500 gph and throw a controller on it. Jabaos are strong.

I have a rw4 in my 20 gallon - 24x16x12, and I wish I had a rw8 or another rw4.. And my tank is mostly softies and lps. What setting are you using?

Get a universal variable power supply so you can turn it down even more.
I always get the biggest Jebao out and then just adjust the power with these. It's especially helpful in else mode where the power can't be turned down without a universal power supply. The lights on the controller change but it's not actually adjustable.
Got it on ebay for like 10$

Maybe just let the anenome float around and settle? They tend to like flow in most cases.

AllTheseKids, I had it set on the lowest setting with the speed knob turned all of the way clockwise, where it pauses the longest in between the times when it turns on. I also have it on W1. I've played with it a bit and that seems to be the softest setting I can find.

jasonandsara, I'll look into getting on of those today.

ReeferEric, I let it run for a few hours yesterday, hoping he would get adjusted to it, but he was pretty shriveled up the whole time. When I looked at my anemone this morning, he had what looked like some brown balls on top of him, right where his mouth is, and from what I understand, that isn't a good sign. I feel like the wave maker was stressing him out. After playing with it for a while last night, trying to get it right for him, I decided to leave it unplugged while I was asleep, and the same for today, since I'm at work. When I have some more time, I'm going to see if there's anything else I can do to get it adjusted right for him.

Maybe grab a variable power supply like jasonandsarah recommended. Mine is on else mode and is about 1/4 of the way down on the side, pointed slightly up towards the back and it doesn't blow anything around. If you have the power all the way down on w1 that should be the lowest it goes.

Def get the variable power supply. Running a jabeo pump without one is tough. The stock controller just doesn't allow for much of a adjustment.

Especially on "Else mode" witch has always been my favorite mode on the Jebao's . Plus I like getting a bigger pump I can turn down for a wider flow. It's worth it since the price difference between the pumps isn't that much.
