Hello all,

I picked up a new welso brain yesterday. Sweet colors, dark and light purple with neon green. I am wondering if it should open more than it is, or if this is the norm? I am also wondering if if is receding at the edge, or if that’s typical (like a growth edge?)?

Photos will under normal and all lights,

It looks shrunken right now. These Corals can inflate and deflate at the drop of a hat. Just keep an eye out for any protruding skeleton as that’s a bad sign.

You are right! Good call. I haven’t seen it inflated yet, but my mother was here while I was at work and actually took a photo she just sent me. Not sure how I made it mad, but it was better this afternoon.

Good to hear! Mine will double in size some days.

I believe that is a wilsoni. I agree that brain Corals tend to take a little time to get comfortable. It looks fine in all of the pictures.

Good to know, was mislabeled then. Are they very different?

A lot of people think wilsoni is difficult to keep, but a lot of others seem to have no isssues. Keep it in low light and low flow with occasional feedings. Also keep your parameters stable and you have a great shot at success. I have only kept one in the past, so i a man only sharing what I know. I know of a few people on r2r are keeping several. I would see if a mod can change the title of this thread or start a new thread with wilsoni in the title. That way the real experts can chime in.

Cool. I am reading up on them now. I bought it at TSM, surprised they’d have the wrong ID. $80, he told me he was hooking me up because I bought a bunch of stuff (shout out, I’m not from there and was blown away by the place, must have had 30 gem tangs!). Maybe the mods can change it. Not sure how to request that. I hope I can keep it, I cringe a little knowing the reputation is so mixed.
