Literally just put in my new male fairy wrasse an hour ago. The stores name was Ruby Red Wrasse. Pretty sure the scientific name is Cirrhilabrus rubripinnis. I did my research and figured he was a safe bet. I watched him at the store over a week and looked good, eating and showed no aggression. When I first put him in after an hour acclimation the yellow tang took a few swipes at him but has left him alone now. But the wrasse is going after the azure damsel like a boss. And to a lesser extent, the clown fish. Is this normal when first introducing him and will he calm down?

I got some pics but they aren't good. He's a speed demon.

Ruby wrasse can be moderately agressive. I ha E kept them in the past and they are definitely on the agressive end of the fairy wrasse spectrum.
Things should calm down after a bit

Ever had a cat and brought a new one home. Man they hiss and spit, make all kinds of noises at each other and a week later they're sleeping on the bed together and won't move so you can get in.

Any fish is capable if being incompatible with any other fish at any given time.

You would think 1) close in species or 2) close in body shape.... would trigger incompatibility

But I've seen many times certain fish just don't click. In the same breath I've seen same shaped tangs that you'd bet would fight, actually become schooling buddies.

It's all a roll of the dice and a mystery
