I just added a Halichoeres Timorensis wrasse (Timor wrasse/orange dashed wrasse) to my tank from live aquaria Divers den. As is sadly typical of shipped wrasses he has mouth damage, all be it, slight. He seems very healthy besides the slight mouth damage.

Ive had quite a few wrasses, most of the time they hang out in caves, or dive into the sand when added. But this homie is just FREAKING out, I know this is kinda typical of new fish to try and swim into the glass, but it seems he's making his mouth injury quite worse, also has tried to go carpet surface twice (just jumped into the lid). Why doesn't he just go into the sand?

This is most likely just the fish being stressed from the move but I wouldn't mind some reassurance or opinions...

It’s been a few hours since you posted this... how’s your wrasse now? has it gone into the sand or at least stopped acting so stressed?

Turn the lights off if you haven’t. Was in a dark box and may be disoriented and freaking out.

He's in the sand, I went somewhere and when I left he was little calmer, and when I got back he was gone/in the sand. Im less worried now that he's buried, and if something was really wrong he probably wouldn't be completely buried. Now for the suspenseful waiting game until he comes out...

When a fish is in full on panic mode they hide out in the open which makes it apparent to me that they are so stressed they can't even perceive their surroundings although a Hali is so dedicated to the sand that it is strange to imagine them missing it. Regardless now that they're settled it should be fine as you noted.
I am just wondering is this how far it has come with LA, is even their DD suffering?

Glad to hear she found the sand. Hopefully she doesn’t stay buried long and continues to acclimate to your tank without any further stress.

Keep an eye on her mouth damage. If it starts to look infected or prevents her from feeding well, be prepared to take action. Best of luck with her!

Out of the past 6-7 fish I've ordered from Divers den, this is the only one remotely not perfect, main im guessing because its a Halichoeres wrasse, which tend to not ship well. But he's doing fine now, he's waking up and going to bed at the wrong times but he's just getting used to the daylight cycle.
