I am still getting my legs under me in this hobby and trying to figure everything out, I have not had a sick fish problem yet, until now. I picked up this yellow tang the other day and noticed some spots above it’s gills behind it’s eyes. I am trying to I.D. The problem and find out the best remedy for it. It is very active and not scratching on the rocks or anything, it is eating very well and other that the spots he seams perfectly healthy.

My water parameters are:
Salinity-1.026
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0 or close to it
Phosphate-0

There was a little aggression between him and my coral Beauty but they seam to be fine now.

Looks like it may be developing head and lateral line erosion to me. I don’t see anything that looks like ich or velvet. I would just try to fatten him up and soak food in something like selcon/zoecon and he will look great in no time.

^^^ +1 on above, definitely a case of HLLE offer him Nori sheets, seaweed sheets, mysis etc and soaking in vitamins is a plus. Keep your water clean and him well fed and it should heal.

Thank you, that is a relief because I did not QT it, that is something I am in the process of setting up. I have kept a consistent supply of nori in the tank and feed LRS reef frenzy. I just ordered some selcon and will use that to soak the food in when it shows up. And I watch my water parameters closely.
