New Yellow Watchman Goby Questions

Hi All,

I just added a new yellow watchman goby from Live Aquaria to my tank. I drip acclimated him for around a half hour. For the first 20 or so minutes he seemed to be acting normal. However, its been around 45 now and he is hanging out in the upper part of my tank where the overflow is. He also is swimming kind of angrily and looks like he might be trying to jump out of the tank (I have a cover). Any advice on how to make this guy feel more at home?

May be oxygen. Float 20-30 minutes and acclimate up to 2 hours . 1/2 hour may not have been enough. Could also intimidation/fear of a new setting
Turn lights down or off for a few hours and see if it starts to settle in

Thank you for the response. He seems to be doing a little better. I attempted to feed mysis and he didn't. I just turned the lights down and will keep an eye on him.

At this point it should have settle down and display normal breathing. Did you reduce lights?
If heavy breathing, simple is to add a pump with airstone.

Is that something i will need to continue to use? I have a glass top, would switching to a mesh add more oxygen to the water?

Screen mesh would allow more air/water surface exchange
Asking again-
How is its' breathing and is it still at the top ?

I moved the direction of my AIO powerhead towards the surface of the water in an attempt to get more air and he seems to be doing better. He was hanging out on the sand bed for quite a while but just returned to the top portion of the tank. His breathing definitely was a little worrisome when i first put him in put it has gotten much slower. He is also no longer making sudden movements that look like he is trying to jump

Thats what I was looking for. Should be a different fish in the morning and should eat tomorrow evening

Awesome thank you. I tend to assume the worst so thanks for talking me through it

Make sure the cover has no holes. I have a small hole for the automatic fish feeder and I lost 2 gobies because they jumped out. Put mesh over the hole and have been fine since.
