New Zoanthids

I ordered some eagle eyes off ebay and they will not open at all. They are in a 12 gallon aquapod with pc's. The water tests fine. Nothing to pick on them. A percula is the only fish. Nothing in the filter but a chemi pure bag and the blue filter block it came with. A colony of paythoa grandis is the only other coral and they are awesome and open full everyday. The temp does stay around 81 because of the enclosed hood. I did a water change with RO and it seemed to make them worse, they closed up even tighter. They are on the bottom of tank.

Eagle eyes are pretty easy zoas to keep, i think its just due to shipping and thats why they are closed up. They should open up just give them some time. What do you mean you did a water change with RO? if the shipping looked bad then i would let the person know and see if you can get a refound if they dont make it.

did you check the zoas for pests ? spiders, sundials, etc ???

did you dip them at all? That would be my first step. I would pick up some Tropic Marin pro coral cure and do a freshwater dip, to TMPCC, then back to tank. All should be fine I would think.

I bought Eagle Eyes of Ebay a year or two ago. They took so lomg to open that I complained that they were dead. After about a 12 days they finally started to open. Don't give up. Zoas can be finicky.

If your using RO water check your DKH certain zoos act in bad way when low.
Also if your water temp is 81 is it going up and down? You want to have consistancy with water temp. Everthing in moderation . Sudden change is not good.
