zero nitrates, nitrite and ammonia..
any suggestions to make fire and ice zoanthids happy???
put in the tank 11 days ago, some days open 'only' a little closed up tight now!!

Calc and pH are good
we bought eagle eye zoa three weeks after filled tank.. they died

0 nitrates may also be the cause try getting it between detectable and 5ppm. May want to check for parasites or a bacterial infection. I had one of my islands with zoas start melting away and couldn't figure out why. Dipped in coral rx followed by peroxide. A week later minus a few polyps the rock and zoas had never looked happier.

Look closely at them and check for nudis. Can you post salinity and other params

we also discovered what we think is a 6 arm brittle star in the tank¿ No idea what he rode in on, prob the zoas..

Can anyone tell me about the brittle Stars if they're safe for a reef tank if we need to get him out what he's eating in my tank or if he'll harm the zoas or anything..

You could also have something walking over them. I feel like my Flame Hawk has made it his mission to perch directly on top of my zoas and make them close up.

The fox face and the flame fin feed all over the tank including the zoas so that could be an issue

my husband says there's a white film over the zoas I can't see it myself but he's talking about doing a three or a four-part water to one part peroxide dip

Possibly we have a sterile tank with no ammonia no nitrites etc.. we may need to do something about that

We actually talked about putting a tiny amount of the skim back into the tank..

Did you say you dipped them in RODI water? I dipped a clove coral in RODI water and it killed most of them. The one that is still alive never opened fully even after a month.

I have done a few minute dip is freshwater with zoas without any issues. Dont think you can do it with all corals tho.

Have you tried moving the to a spot with different lighting and flow?

brittle stars are reef safe. They upset my zoas and palys almost daily. I do agree the tank may be sterile. Do you have fish?

Tank looks very clean, dirty it up with food. On a recommendation here, I turkey blasted mine with the juice from defrosting frozen foods, once or twice / week. My Zoas grew quickly after that
