I got this zoa colony on the 15th, so almost two weeks that I've had it, now over the past 2-3 days it won't open up hardly at all and it's getting a brownish look to the color. My tank is two months old, cycled with all live rock and I do a 30% wc once a week. Parameters:
Ammonia <0.25, nitrites 0, nitrates 5-10, PH 7.8 (ph has remained at this lvl since start up), Phos 0.1, Alk 9.1, Calcium 420, Mag 1170
These readings were taken yesterday and the only significant changes have been a 0.7 decrease in Alk, a 20ppm increase in Calcium, and a 60ppm increase in Mag. Last water change was the 24th. I have another zoa that is only about two inches away from the colony that is still doing really good. I also moved the colony a few inches to see if a change in lighting or flow would affect it any, if anything it seems unhappier being in less light.

The yellow one is only a couple inches from the colony and was purchased at the same time from the same vendor.

P.S. If anybody can give an ID for them as well I would appreciated it, I was told the colony is Purple Death, but I'm not so sure anymore they don't look quite right, even when they were fully open and colored.

Looks like purple death and nuclear green palys. What kind of lights do you have? Your parameters look good enough for zoas/palys. Sometimes you end up taking a hit on one z/p and all the others are fine. I have two rainbow infusion rocks that are inches from each other. While one is flourishing, the other is slowly melting. Make sure you are inspecting z/p as you are adding them for any unwanted pests like nudibranchs or spiders. Hope to help and good luck.

I have a Kessil 360 w-e, lights come on at 8am, ramp up through the day and then turn off at 8pm. I did not dip the zoa for pests, however I have been checking multiple times a day for pests and haven't seen anything thus far. A new symptom as of yesterday afternoon is that a couple of the mouths are now "puckering" out and have some brown stringy stuff coming off. Anybody else have any theories?
Oh and thanks for the ID.

They are expelling some zooanthelle keep an eye on them. Also did you ask what lighting they came from?

I did not. When I got them I put my lights on a 7-day acclimation setting. Ugh, have I killed my zoas already?

do you feed cyclopods or smaller type foods? they are starving when the mouths open like that on the PDs, a tank with a very high pods type/number is always a huge factor in success of my zoa/paly tanks

Zoas and plays are funny. I've had some be happy one day then melt the next day no reason I could find.

I target feed it every day with coral frenzy, have yet to see a feeding response from it. I had tried moving it to a lower light area and it got super mad, so I ended up moving it back. Some days it seems to be improving and then it just declines again.

Just got home from work and this is what they look like.

So either someone ran over it right before I got home or they are super mad about something.

Try dipping in iodine for 15 minutes. They look like they're on the way out

I don't have iodine. Would Revive work as a substitute? And should I try changing anything with the lighting or flow? I thought that since a couple heads had been expelling zooxanthellae that it had too much light, but when I moved it to a lower light area it was not happy at all. This morning there is no change at all, still completely closed up. Granted the lights are not on yet but usually they are open a little bit.
