hi there, i am new to this site and also new to the marine hobby, i have had fish tanks through most of my life but never attempted a marine setup, i litterally am starting from scratch, i am looking around at the moment for 2 steel girders to place in my walls which will then hold a 5ft x 2ft x 3ft (hopefully) as i hoping to get the setup correct first time round any help from you all will be very much apreciated, thanks in advance

thanks all, am i better off having a seperate smaller tank running with my filter and heater running in then have that feeding my main,

It's never a bad thing to have a sump and add water volume.

thanks, sorry if this may be a basic uestion but which is the best order to set up once i have my tank in place, am i correct in saying sand first, then water, or can anybody suggest a good bit of reading meterials, also what are your recomendations for canister filters and heaters, i was going to run a canister filter in the sump and also an external fx 5

My opinion you should not used canister filter for saltwater tank. Use a sump and skimmer you ll get better results.

@oceanparadise1 & darkblack....You said you don't like canister filters for reef tanks but I was wondering what your opinion is of them for a fish only tank. I have a 36gal bowfront that I am wanting to put a live rock or 2 in and a lionfish. I have a 75 gal reef w/ bean overflow, sump, refugium, etc, etc & I'm needing to go quite a bit cheaper With this FO tank...any thoughts? Hoping a canister with continued maintenance will be a cheaper, equal alternative for a lionfish tank
