Newb Brute Can Storage Plumbing Question

Hi all,

Have a 20g brute can to store some water while I mix up enough to fill up my new 40g AIO. Currently only have 4x 5g jugs, so I will have to fill up the brute can and the 4 jugs to get the tank wet.

Consider me as having the plumbing knowledge of a 5 year old.
My questions:
1. Do you raise the brute can onto a box and add a spigot to get the water out in smaller manageable amounts (5g at a time)?
2. What type of spigot or alternative do you install?
3. How do you get the hole in the plastic can?
4. How do you make sure the spigot or alternative doesn't leak?
5. Is this unnecessary?

Alternative is also just get a cheap pump and enough 3/4” hosing and pump the water out of the brute into your tank (assuming they are near each other). No need to carry buckets around

Thanks! Given that the brute is currently just for holding enough water to get the tank wet, I might go with the alternative and put a pump in with enough hosing to pump 5g into the carboys (genius!). Think I have my original Fluval EVO pump that I could use for this.

Will look at the bulkhead/pvp pipe/valve later for a long-term storage solution if needed. Don't think there's a way around lugging 5gal of RODI at a time since this is an office tank (brute can is in warehouse, about 20 yards from my office) and I can only make the RODI inside of a lab sink, since I cannot run the risk of an overflow.
