Newb ? What causes corals to turn white(bleached)?

Trying to learn what will cause a coral to bleach? Thank you.

What type of lighting are you using?
 
Hey mike. I have the stock biocube lighting. I only have a button polyp and a eagle eye. Dnt really have bleaching but might of noticed alil white on the button polyp but just wanted to know what cause bleaching so if I ever encounter the problem. Thanks

Normally its caused by intense lighting that the coral is not acclimated to. It can also be caused by the coral not getting enough nutrients .
 
Oh. How do you increase the nutrients?

Corals need to be fed. There are alot of good corals foods available. Some people target feed there corals i use Redsea reef energy myself. It is a liquid food but it does not take much. You may to make sure you have the correct lighting also.
 
If the conditions are improved yes they can come back.
 
Cool maybe it will do the trick. You have to have the right spectrum for corals.
