I'm glad you got to experience our country, but sorry the flight took such a toll on you. Unfortunately, as out of the way as we are, international travel outside of Australia or Pacific nations involve rough travel times; one of the reasons I've never traveled too far. I hope you at least had a good experience here and are feeling well

Excellent experience. I was a teacher at the time. I visited some schools and was told that with my experience I could get a job. I came home with plans to emigrate. By the time I was fit again from the dvt I had just passed the age limit to be accepted. I was gutted. But that’s life, and I’m still alive several years later.

Hi all, newbie from New Zealand here. I've been considering a reef tank for a while now, then got gifted a free 20 gal tank from a neighbour and figured that was as good an excuse as any.

The tank is sumpless and previously freshwater, so my plan for now is to set up a simple tank with a fire goby, possibly also a cleaner shrimp and some hardy beginner corals, with HOB equipment and then transitioning it into a quarantine tank when I end up upgrading to a larger tank.

I'm eager for any advice y'all have for me, and I'm sure I will be asking plenty of questions on my journey

For advice I’m going to suggest that you use long gloves when you work in the tank and please refrain from “dipping your toes “ into the tank, it’s not good for the corals.

Duly noted, I will make sure to keep my appendages to myself . Is there anything to watch out for when it comes to gloves, or is pretty much anything fine? I know that's probably a silly question, but I also know there are a lot of things we'd consider nonissues that can cause real issues in tanks, like air fresheners. I'd rather ask dumb questions than hurt my future tank inhabitants haha
