we're fairly new to the salt world, have a tank with alot of damsal fish in it, but the big ones are a Orchid Dottyback, Copperband Butterfly, Green Trigger and a pair of Orange clowns. my question is, what else can be added as far as Butterflies, Angels etc and we have peace in the tank? We had 3 tangs but sold them as they bullied the Copperband and kindof were a roadblock to anything else in the tank. i have a few hermit crabs, emerald crab, large clam and an anenome. What have you had success with mixing in either single or more in with what i have? i've read Kleins Butterflies were real good, any ideas? thanks for your feedback!! rob

pic coming shortly....120 gal tank, been set up about 6 weeks now. everyone has been in there a while except the filefish for about a week, and the copperband about 2-3 days. the tangs werent cutting him any slack, would like to get more of the copperbands but was told they dont do good together.

120 gal tank is going to be borderline for any tangs, not to mention 3. That alone may have played into their aggressiveness. IMO.. you would be safe with a small angel or 2 (flame, coral beauty, etc..). One large Angel would be a gamble depending on the specific fish. I don't have any experience with butterfly's to know one way or another.

ive been told Copperband Butterflies wont mix, so we'd have to have just one. he's a neat fish though, goes sideways and even upside down to get what he wants in the rocks.

copperbands ar enice but can be very picky eaters. they will also pick at clams.

not my clammie!! he's about softball sized, just sits open and enjoys the light. the copperband might pick at it? so far i havent seen anything like that. it was upside down a while ago in a crevase i assume going after a peppermint shrimp possibly. we have one back in there, so im just assuming he likes shrimp? might have to exercise the return policy on this guy if he's going to be this difficult as the link above website says. and i was really liking him!
