My wife been wanting saltwater tank for years. She made that request known for her 50th and family and friends gave her money enough to buy what we needed. We decided to start with a Bio cube starter kit. Actually its AquaEuroUSA 28 gallon kit. 78 watts flouresent, 8 blue moonlight LED's, 3 stage filtration, and 2 160 high performance water pumps for water movement.
We have about 2" to 2 1/2" of live sand with 20 lbs of live rock. The tanks been cycled for almost the week. 9/17 and today is 9/22. Today we added 1 yellowtail, 1 blacktail Damselfish and 1 sand sifting sea star. Total of about $20 in fish. Reading, asking, reading, asking and web searches, and google maps for fish stores etc...we are on our way.
This is new ground for us. ( actually its new water to swim in.) Test kits, strips... day by day...small tank is good to start with. I hope we can do this. Out here in the california high desert there are very limited places to go for supplies let alone Q and A sessions. W
as it scarey for others their first few months or so?
