Newbie here needing help

As other have said you need a powerhead, you can find them on Amazon as cheap as $16. And maybe get a aquarium magnet scraper, so it won’t look dirty and you can see your fish :)
Magnet came in today and I bought a protein skimmer that is suppose to arrive tomorrow if that’s good

Would you recommend leaving the sand?
Yeah, I would probably leave it, but its up to you. I like deeper sand beds because its good for conch snails and I love them because just look at their little eyes!

Also, as others have said, think like this; You are trying to recreate an ocean reef. Lots of waves and water movement. Reef critters depend on it to bring food, carry away waste, and provide O2 for them.

Your sand should be fine to leave, but you don't want more than a couple inches. Get some snails that move through it and vacuum it when you do your water changes.

Patience is key!

What food do you use
I know you didn't ask me but...
Its best to use a mix of foods, it really depends on the diet of the fish.
Looks like you have clowns and a banggai cardinal. I would feed mysis shrimp and tdo chroma boost
I like to feed mysis in the evening and tdo in the morning, just beacuse pellet foods are easier.

This is a 16 gallon with a pair of clowns in it, right? You will probably want to keep it at just those two. Clowns can be real jerks, and they very well may claim the whole tank for themselves. The larger is the female and is the dominant one. I believe you said earlier she can be mean... Well they really can. It's possible she killed the Cardinal.

Thank you so much! Makes perfect sense

If I missed this, make sure your topping off evaporated water with RODI water, not the premixed saltwater. When your water evaporates the salt stays in your tank so you don’t want to top off with saltwater if that makes sense! Good luck!

There is a cute eel looking fish eel there too. He hides and rarely comes out. We wondered if she killed him. She’s very aggressive. If we took her out and just had her by herself, would the other clown become mean too?

Yes. This one is a 16gal at my grand daughters. I’m trying to start a 32 gal here but don’t want clowns

This is the only other fish (eel) than the clowns now
