just wanted to introduce myself. I've been looking to this site for information for the past year and decided to go ahead and join. Lots of great info here. I started reefing last year with a little biocube and then upgraded in October to a 120 gallon and upgraded my sump last week from an old trickle filter to a 40 gallon sump. Way better. Really love my new sicce syncra 9.0 that I purchased when I upgraded my sump.
Would love to spend thousands but instead have 3 kids in college so I reef on a budget and do a lot of DIY. Which is fun sometimes (if it works). Lol. Nice to be here!

Hello,

I find it inspiring that you have found time to enjoy a hobby that’s not only super expensive, but time consuming. It’s also amazing that all three of your children have made it to college studies. In addition, the fact your also a DIY is neat, because you find ways to make your tank work outside the box, and at a cheaper level. It’s nice to see one enjoy this hobby with out dropping tons of money into it.

We would love to know more about you, and definitely want to see pics of all your DIY items and your 120. You will find tons of amazing lovely people on here with a vast amount of knowledge. I’m certain you won’t be able to stump all of us lol, you could possibly stump me, but pretty sure not all of the others. The knowledge and information gained from others here is priceless.

Really look forward to knowing you more and seeing your pics.

Sincerely
Sarah

And another BIG WELCOME to R2R here.
Nothing wrong with being che// frugal in this hobby and as a Old Salt starting 36 years ago I find that the DIY route is what really keeps me interested and involved. Being creative enough to take an idea from the planning stages all the way to a functional ??? is honorable in many ways. Anyone can go out and buy the latest and greatest... and these people are the first to give up when things get difficult or go south.

Cheers, Todd
