newbie just wanting advise and direction

I am new to salt tanks. I have one that’s been up and running since summer last year. Bought live rocks from someone’s established tank. I have a clown fox face shrimps and some cuc. I am unable to get sand clean and I think I have a pest snail issue.
My husband is frustrated with my hobby at this point. I did learn the way about ich and now have a qt tank. Fast forward three months from that incident to west I’m at now with ugly sand still an issue.
I use RODI water changes bi weekly (ok so I’ve missed one or two sometimes but really I’m consistent) Red Sea pro salt.
My parameters are not an issue and my corals mushrooms and anemone doing well.
Hanna checkers:
Salinity 35
Calcium 460ppm
Magnesium 1500ppm
Alkalinity 9.8dKH
Nitrate 1ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
PH 7.9
Phosphate .1ppm

Hmmm sand doesn’t look so bad… how often are you replacing your mechanical filtration?
Do you have nassarius snails. They are great for cleaning the sand bed

It looks so bad in other light and as the tank wakes up. Yes I have several diff kinds of snails. The filtration is bi weekly. I have a HOB and only change one side each time.

I have to recommend replacing filter floss every other day. Nutrients build up in your system fast. Hmmm considering it’s bad only during lights on do you think it could be dinoflagellates???
