Well of course...i'm a newbie and expected. First tank never started Dec 26th
I assumed just add lfs premix water to tank and go. Salinity of my lfs is at 1.020 so they said and my hydrometrr showed different setting everyntime. picked up a refractometer and it is more like 1.018 so now have to raise it.
Yes I know how to raise, using 1.026 water in the top off over next few weeks until it gets to where I want it. Did the same thing on both my qt tanks
Moral of the. Story. Easier to start with proper salinity. Vs adjust after the fact. Know your lfs water and adjust as needed.
Moral number 2. Trust yourself. Add rodi system to my setup and now making my own water testing for 0 tds and mixing to proper level right off the bat.
Check one off the lesson book. And yes no matter how many times you read proper way, a lesson learned from experience holds its weight in gold
