Newbie! Need ideas and identification on algae

Hey guys and gals,

wondering if I can get a identification on what is growingin my tank. It’s been about two weeks sense it’s been there. Done a lot of reading before my post, not sure if it’s just diatom or if it could be dyno. Tank has been online for about 4 months.

what’s the best way to fix it? And make it stop. The coral where super happy until they have this stuff stuck on them lol

Also, been doing a 5 gallon water change with RODI water every Saturday.

With out a Microscope not sure but it looks a lot like Dinos. I just went through this. First thing I see is your NO3 and PO4 is at ZERO. This can give Dinos a foothold.
What I did is raise my NO3 up slowly to about 5 to 10 and PO4 unto 0.03 or so.
Did a 3 day black out and ran a UV light in my sump. This seamed to rid my tank of Dinos and so far so good. A few of my SPS corals did loose some color but will come back over time.

dinoflagellates, best way to be 100% sure is to use a microscope. But by seeing your no3 and po4 at zero unfortunately it will be dinoflagellates most probably.

I had to dose with NeoNitro from Brightwell and then feed more. I got the Dinos because over the holidays I did not keep track of my NO3 and PO4 and they hit ZERO so I had NeoNitro on hand.
