Hello. My name is Stacy. I’ve had fresh water aquariums before but I’m starting my first saltwater tank. I intend to add coral eventually. It’s a 30g long with a skilter. The light is a solar flare ex led 10k 460nm blue. Caribe sea medium live sand, 25 pounds caribe sea shapes live rock and 5 pounds wet live rock with a nice group of hitchhiking feather dusters. It’s been fully cycled including seed supplement and the cleaning crew has been introduced: hermit crabs, snails and one small red star fish. It’s time to add fish. I’d like peaceful community tank including a pair of clowns. Please suggest fish and inverts as well as order of introduction. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

Maybe a 6 line wrasse if you don't want any other wrasses

That’s a pretty fish. What about a solar wrasse?
I have an acrylic lid. Would I need to change to netting with a wrasse?

A 29 gallon is too small for a solar wrasse, unfortunately. I'm not too sure if clear mesh is necessary, I have other reasons against using a glass/acrylic top so I never looked into whether it would work for wrasses.

Why would you need to change your lid for the wrasse ?
I would look into yellow coris wrasse instead of a six line. The six line will be more aggressive

The issue is just that the tank is quite small and the yellow coris wrasse is an active medium sized fish. Do you think it's really suitable for a 29 gallon?

Hi Stacy

Stary Blennies and other types are great characters to have in your tank and there are some good suggestions above already

Chromis if you want a shoal, there are many beautiful friendly fish. My own system is a friendly place as well, and generally calm.

And welcome to R2R as well by the way!

Tailspot blenny, yellow watchman goby with a pistol shrimp to pair with, and a royal gramma. A skunk cleaner is fun too.

I kept a 6-line in my 32gal bio cube for years and he was a model citizen for me. They have a reputation for a reason though. As the only wrasse, he might work. A royal gramma or fire fish is a much safer bet.

My set up is small because it is in my office at work. I spend a lot of time there.

I liked the 16 gallon fluval sea setup but chose to go with 30g so the water parameters would not be quite as tight.

I would never redomend a 6 line personally.. I've had one for 2 years and he still fights every single new addition to the tank. I've heard of a couple stories where they turned out ok, not most become gnarly little guys
