In the process of designing a 5x2x2 acrylic tank. Looking to save $ where I can without hurting the final product. Can you tell me why I shouldn't just use bulkhead overflow strainers (like the attached photo) vs something like a Ghost Overflow. The savings would be pretty dramatic. Is it noise? Is it looks? My thought is if I spaced out 3 of the strainers across the back so they were half submerged then hard plumbed down to the sump, that would be just as effective as say a bean animal for redundancy and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Your opinion is appreciated.

This sound fine to me. You would have to make sure they stayed clean. That would be the main issue I would see. If the teeth clog on an overflow box it will still overflow and these wont. Also I dont know if you know but there are cheaper overflow boxes than the ghost overflow. BRS has some CRP boxes that start at 40 bucks.

Thank you. I appreciate the quick response.
