I am pretty new to macro photography, but here is a recent attempt. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks for your comments! I must have taken 30 of those pictures with the clown goby. He kept perching himself on the brain, but he kept moving from spot to spot. So I was trying to adjust the focus. This was the best one.

The pics are slightly overexposed it looks like. The whites are extremely bright and the detail gets lost in them. Try reducing your exposure a bit and they'll be great! Very good start.

I appreciate your feedback. I really don't know anything about post-processing with Photoshop either. But, taking your advice, I did try to tweak the exposure setting in photoshop. Here is the same image... better or worse?

Your initial shot wasn't that overexposed. Maybe a little bright, but not terrible. Your correction went a little too far. The biggest issue with the image is the composition. A much tighter crop will put more emphasis on the subject. In your original, the viewer's eye tends to wander away from the subject to study the rest of the image, which contains nothing of value. Keep only those elements that contribute to the image and eliminate all else whenever possible.

I took another stab at processing this, with your recommendations.

Here is the original attempt:

My most recent attempt adjusted the exposure, white balance, and I sharpened the image too.

I'll see if I have time to take some more pictures today and possibly get some more experience and advice.
