Hey all! Brand new to the hobby! I work at Petco and have fallen in love with the marine critters, so decided to start up myself. First tank is a JBJ 65 AIO with all stock equipment. I’ll upgrade as a I learn and start finessing the finer details. Right now the equipment is so incredibly overwhelming, so I’ll have lots of dumb questions when it comes to compatibility, do’s and don’t etc.
Only stock right now are 3 blue leg hermits and 2 damsels. My original plans were FOWLR, but I’m leaning more and more towards corals in the future. I LOVE the look of zoa gardens!
Pic of the project so far. No lights yet as I’m horribly indecisive, definitely open to suggestions!

Welcome to the salty family!! Kudos to you for exploring and learning more ... it will benefit you and the future customers of Petco will be better for it. Woo Hoo! Congrats on the new build.
great job fist bump GIF
We work our butts off in our aquatics dept! And I figured the best way to learn is to start from the ground up at home.

I feel bad for the staff of our local Petco aquatics dept. If it's not bad enough that the same people are jumping on registers, taking care of the aquatics ... they are also grabbing hampsters, snakes and lizards because there are never more than 3 people visibly working in our local store.
I gave up shopping there because 75% of the time, the tanks are under observation - have cyano, dinos or overrun with GHA. The fish are visibly infected with ICH or struggling with some illness. I would imagine it would be hard to deal with that every day. Not saying that everyone there is unknowledgable - but there is only so much one can do in a given shift.
Thank you for stepping up to the plate. I hope your tank brings you years of joy!
