Hey all helpful reefers!

I am setting up my rodi system today and finally getting my 20 gallon wet and salty very soon. i also have a larger red sea tank being delivered in a few weeks.

I purchased a hanna pro tester kit (salinity, alkalinity, phosphate, calcium) for the future testing, but i wanted to know what you all thought were the best / easiest tests for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate. Is it worth grabbing the hanna ammonia/nitrate handhelds?

Some experienced reefer thoughts and inputs, or other newbie's inputs on their cycle would be very helpful.

Tank is a red sea nano with caribsea liferock, caribsea arag-alive sand, biohome ultimate media - and i have a small bottle of Dr Tims im planning on adding.

Let me know your thoughts (and maybe a link to your favorite nitrite/nitrate/ammonia test kit) Thanks!

once a tank is cycled out I've never really tested Ammonia or Nitrite that part of the tank in my IMO is pretty much set once it is established it just works so i use API for that once it through the cycle process i put them away. nitrate on the other hand is something that check often enough that an accurate test is wanted i like red sea test for nitrate works well I don't have the pro version i don't feel like i need to be that fine down to .25ppm I'm looking to stay 2 to 5 ppm.

The easiest and best in my opinion is the API - Saltwater Master Test Kit. It’s available on amazon. Its good to have so you can track the cycle of your biofilter, measure nitrates and know when to change your water, and if your fish get sick you have ammonia and nitrite test capability. I have been using it for like 15 years now, works great
