Newbie Question

Hi guys.
Tank up amd running about 10 weeks now and gone through world of emotions .... lost one urchin in the weeks.

Just noticed some purple kinda coating on the rocks today and wondering anyone know what it is ??

It's in a couple of different places

It may have been a little early for an urchin. I’m sorry you lost yours!

The purple in the picture, is it hard on the rock or more “jelly-like?” If it’s jelly like, it’s probably a little cyano.

It seems to cover the rock like a piece of cloth if that makes sense and bits move about in the current .... I take it cyano ain't a good thing.

It’s not the worst thing in the world. Clean what you can with a toothbrush when you do water changes or get some cleanup crew that like eating it. Cyano is way better than your nutrients being so low you get dinos.

Took me old turkey baster and broke up into small pieces.... hopefully that did the trick

No worries about cyano, it will come and go though the years.
