Adding my first corals and one of the first I bought was a candy cane. My question is regarding adding it to my tank. I bigggt it online and it looked like it was essentially just the top of the coral that is colorful but when I got it it's actually attached to what I assume is the rest of the coral that looks like a tree branch? I don't know how else to describe it, but I'm curious how people are adding these to your tanks? I've tried searching for a few hours on the internet but haven't been able to find anything.

I added a photo of what I'm talking about but I basically just shoved it into a hole in the rock. Same thing goes for the one behind it that you can see in the picture.

Any help for this newb is much appreciated!

Yes the coral is the flesh at the top. And really that hard part is part of the coral. Like the stem of a flower almost. How you have it will work just fine. And was going to be what I recommended to do. Just stick it in a hole where it fits snugly. But be careful you can break that base. And if broke to close to the flesh of the coral can damage it.

If they start putting out there feeders try to Feed them mysis or a few pellets 1-2 a week and if you have stable water Parameters they will grow quickly.
