Newbie - Red Sea Max Nano carbon filter help

Hey guys

So I’ve had my Red Sea Max Nano set up and running for quite some time now. The tank has cycled . However when I set up the tank I did not set it up with the carbon filter it came with . Will it be okay if I add it to the set up now after the cycle ? Also any idea on how to do it? I’ve been told it needs to be activated by putting it in boiling water

I’m not familiar with that tank but am I correct is suspecting the carbon is just in a bag?

if so, you should be just fine adding the carbon now. It’s actually better in my opinion.

as far as boiling goes; that’s new to me - never heard that advice before. Generally with a bag of carbon (or even carbon in a reactor) you want to rinse it with RODI (sink is ok too) till the black fines stop coming out. Don’t mash it up or anything. Gently rinse it till the water flowing through it is clear.

Thanks buddy. I will just give it a rinse and then put it in. Yup it just in a tiny little bag, which I assume goes with the carbon into my filtration that’s on the back of my tank

No problem. Remember, it’s “disposable” so every once in a while you would swap it out. There’s a nano tank section here that might be worth diving into to see how often other owners change theirs out etc.
