Newbie refugium questions

So I'm going to be starting my first refugium and I just wanted to know a few things 1 when do I add the copepods and really the only other question I have I'll leave it open to you guys for interpretation is what are the do's and don'ts of a refugium in your sump I have a 40-gallon breeder and this is a 29 gallon sump it's a little too tall for my liking but I got a great deal on it thanks for your time guys

When you harvest cheato don't take out 90%. Not only reduce effects on refugium for awhile remaining cheato can die. I always harvest a bout 40~50%. Good to have tiny pump to roll cheato as well. Copepod I'll add whenever. No hurry. Also mechanical filteration before refugium no matter what otherwise its debris trap
