Hi. I am wise enough to say, "I know notink!"
My 4 year old grandson, Eli, rescued Padme (our clown) by saying
"it's alive!" Because the light is out and I was
Grieving. She was floating On the bottom.
And her anemone is alive too. I'm back on task. We're
Getting a light tomorrow. My water flo pump
Keeps getting clogged with hair algae. Is there
A way to seriously clean it. I bought the tank as is.
It was neglected because the keepers girlfriend
Was caring for the reef. My gift, but it's got algae
Issues. There's hope, I know. Padme is a tough
Little girl. And she is loved. It's beautiful how she
Loves her anemones. Thank you, I'm happy to be in the club.

Best way to clean your pump is.....remove it and soak it in white distilled vinegar for about 15min, scrub lightly using an old tooth brush. Rinse well in warm water, replace. Good luck and welcome to R2R :)

Good advice above :)
Do you know why your having algae issues? Run some tests (phosphate and nitrate in particular), or get the LFS to do it for you and we'll have a better idea of what may be going on.
Goodluck!

+1 to what nana said. Next lets work on getting rid of your Algae! This forum is great for help.

Also list what equipment you have, how often you feed, how much, and what. Any other livestock other than Padme? What do you have for a clean up crew? Where do you get your water for water changes? Sorry for all the questions but the more info you share the easier it is for people to help you.

I feed every other day. I use a frozen reef formula
I give her 1/2 to a whole cube at a time cut up.
Sometimes I use tongs to feed the soft corals.
She doesn't get the food to the anemone. But she tries.
I just have a 25 gal filter. I use carbon filters I cut myself. I have a
Heater and a water flo and an air pump.
So kind of you to ask such detailed questions. Thank you

If your giving 2 fish a half to a whole cube every other day. That's is most likely your algae problem. You are over feeding. Try much smaller portions more often. Only put in what the fish eat in 3 mins. Also what do you have for a clean up crew? Any snails, or crabs?

+1.
Smaller quantities but more often is key to feeding I've found. It's easier on your filters plus it's more natural for the fish. She'll enjoy eating more :)
Do your corals seem closed up at all? Or fading in colour?
