Newbie sump and plumbing advice needed

I’m in the process of upgrading from a 32 biocube to a 75g deep blue rr with a bashsea biofuge sump 30x14x16. First time doing any kind of plumbing or sump type stuff looking for advice or opinions of how to set this up nice. Not sure if I should keep the sump to the left or center it, and the best way I should go about plumbing it for ease of maintenace and overall tidiness. I’ll attach a few pics.

Equipment so far: reef octo classic 150int skimmer first chamber, 2nd chamber will be for macro and I have a sicce silent 4.0 951gph for the return. 1” drain 3/4” return.

Is that a single drain standpipe? Easier to recommend a drain configuration if we know how many pipes you have.

When I did my 90 I ended up using both as drawings 1" main 3/4"emergency so that I could go Herbie and then put my over the top... it's dead silent. The 3/4" is straight no turns and it can handle my jebao 10000 at 100% by itself

I’ve thought about that but my I’d have to add some plumbing behind the tank. My wife wants me to try and keep the tank as close to the wall as possible

Yea I had to pull it away but only about an inch extra for the 3/4" return line which isn't too bad and it adds a factor of safety and dead silence

I would agree that using 2 drains is worth moving the tank out from the wall to make room for the outside return. You are able to run a primary pipe at full siphon with a gate valve for flow control. Set the gate valve to handle 90% of flow with a small trickle down the secondary line that won't make any noise. You're very limited in how much flow you can put down a 1" open drain while staying quiet.

Yeah I do like that idea but not so much of running returns over the top of my tank in the back.

If its not tempered you can always drill the returns in...

I’m limited with the deep blue reef ready setup but I bought the tank and stand used for a great price I couldn’t pass up.

Please consider that with just one drain it will be noisy & not as efficient.won't be able to drain that much water. Will You run a durso type stand pipe to quiet it?

Well I suppose if I had black fitting to go over the top of the tank it wouldn’t be too noticeable. The noise would be a turn off. I guess I could run a line from the return and split it off into two and run each on the side of the return box

Sch 80 is dark grey or those black returns that are like a U too hang over the top.

So I think what I’m going to do is go Herbie style with a 1” overflow and 3/4” emergency drain. 3/4” return and just use my power heads for water movement .

Not sure if it was previously mentioned but add unions as often as possible. Makes it easy to replace valves if ever needed rather than redoing everything. Also add strainers on top of the drain pipes. Buy a few to easily swap them out. They are fish, snail, invert, and floor savers as it prevents things from getting stuck In the pipes.
