Hello all,
I am brand new to the hobby and have my first 15 gallon nano reef tank going for around 7 months. Ive done a bunch of video research ( thank you BRS ) before diving in and have also used this site for help and information. I have had my fair share of bumps in the road already but I am really enjoying the challenge of this hobby, the research and knowledge it takes to succeed as well as watching everything grow. I am still battling with some new tank uglies. I went through a brief cyano phase and had to use chemiclean to get out of ( bad idea maybe ? ). After that its been a battle with hair algae. I recently purchased a pincushion urchin which has helped enormously . I started with dry rock so it seems this may have contributed to a harder startup than usual.
I need to get better testing equipment to help track things better in the future. I've been relying on weekly water changes of 15% to keep things stable. My to-do list is to purchase tests kits for calcium and alk. Im using blue bucket Red Sea salt. For filtration I have maxspect ceramic spheres and filter floss. . I have about 30 more days until it's safe to add fish again. I was thinking about a clown goby...I'm hearing conflicting info about them being reef safe though.
