I'm going to be buying a 70-120 gallon setup this month, and want to start with fish and softies and live rock. I am looking for the slowest growing softies that are in the medium difficulty range. My key requirement is slower growing. I'm very patient and want to keep my options open as my tank matures. So, I know the buzzword names of multiple softies, but need some advice to start looking into/researching for purchase? For instance I have read that Hallucinations grow slowly, and a few others. Any recommendations, please?

Edit 1 ======================
I forgot to add, bare bottom setup

I guess non-invasive is the better term. I've heard a bunch that Newbies get softies and then their tank gets overrun by them. I want to try and prevent that from the start. Thanks for helping me clarify!

I would avoid Xenia which can be very invasive when it takes hold.

It’s a very beautiful coral with its colour and movement in the reef, but it can really grow out of control

Green Star polyps is another that can grow out of control, but I love it personally

And welcome to R2R by the way as well!

lights are important ,, the mushroom in my profile pic doesnt have enough light , hence the browning and the tenticles reaching up, get a cheap little lux meter and if yours lights are in the 20-25k lux range then youre good for most soft corals and a major handful of low light demanding lps ,
