Hi all I'm converting to marine I'm planning on getting a hang on back protein skimmer and live rock. Will I still need a filter ? I have canister filter set up on my freshwater which I was gonna use but a lot of people are saying this is a no no. Any help is appreciated [emoji3]

With a proper amount of liverock and a good properly rated skimmer there's no need for a canister filter. Most people avoid any of these kinds of filters in salt water because they can become nitrate traps. Only really used in QT applications.
