I have no Power heads
I agree with others, the return pump is not considered in the flow. On a 150 gal tank, for softies and LPS you want around 20x turnover. I would get 2 powerheads for a total of 3000 gph.

hello, and welcome,

since your a noob, I can recommend a cheap and easy solution to your flow problem, try the reefbreeder wavemaker, they are DC; making them adjustable, quiet and energy efficient. they are affordable and work perfect for your backwall since they are black, they wont show.

Welcome to R2R and congrats on your new tank! Agree with the suggestions to add powerheads -- with a tank that size, the return pump won't generate enough flow to keep everyone happy and alive.

I would first work on getting flow right. There are so many options out there right now that it doesn't make it easy. I would start with your turnover rate. I have no first hand experience with wave makers like the prop driven pumps but I did just install a gyre and it's fantastic, moves a lot of water, and it's really a less expensive way to generate lots of flow. And with only lps and softies in there you won't need as much flow as you would with an sps dominated tank. That is, unless you do plan on a lot of sps in the future, at which point I'd go for something prop driven probably.
I've read the m8's aren't that bad but you'd probably need a couple more to spread the light and if you put the lps and softies a bit higher up you could probably get away with it. That is, unless you plan on a lot of sps, at which point I'd look into the more popular higher end lights like radions or kessil.
