Hi, I am just getting back into reefing after 20 years and I am really excited to be back into this amazing hobby/sickness! I am currently setting up a 125g half round reef tank with 30" depth by 48" W, 150 lbs live rock, NYOS Quantum 160 Skimmer, 30g sump w/refugium, Tunze Osmolator and Wavebox and a Kessil AP700 light.

Can anyone tell me a way around having the fan in the AP700 light fixture running regardless of the light being on or off? I want to create an automatic program via the iPad but hate the idea of wasting all that energy when the lights are not even on. And one more question, can you recommend a good program cycle for a new tank setup just beginning the cycling process?

THANK YOU!

Hey JD13. I contacted Kessil regarding the fan always running. Unfortunately there is no way to shut down fan and maintain your program. I have a 58 gallon tank and run my program based of the Acclimation template. I did have to lower the peak settings to 40% and adjusted color at the peaks to a whiter color. Anything higher and my LPS started to suffer. Your tank is bigger so you might have to play around with your settings.

Thanks for the feedback! Is it just me or doesn't it seem crazy that a $1000 light would not have the ability to shut the fan off when the lights are not on??? Thanks for tip on using the acclimation template. How many hours a day do you run your light and of those hours how many are at peak light (for you 40%)? Thanks Again!

It is crazy that you cannot turn off the fan. Maybe after some updates we will be able to. I run my light from 9am to 9pm. I'm at 4 hours for peak light at 40%
