Hello all,

a buddy of mine is looking to get rid of his 125G tank, its not a reef tank, but has 1, 1.5" inch hole on one side predrilled. I have a 75G at the moment and this 125G would be a nice upgrade if I know exactly how to set this new tank for reef. since there is a predrilled hole, I am guessing its safe to drill on that same side.

where would I begin, buy an overflow box that I like and drill based on that template or is there more to be considered here, all help is appreciated.

If I can set this up as a reef, it will go in the wall in the basement with a fish room.

Is the existing hole in the side glass, back glass or bottom glass?

side glass
here's the picture of the side that is drilled.

I'd drill one or two more and do an external overflow hung on the side. That should keep it out of your way from behind the tank? Maybe?

thanks Ron, I will look into overflow boxes, I don't have much knowledge on that side yet. my 75G was predrilled when i bought it, came with overflow and everything, just had to get PVC and plumb the sump.
